In 2016, Tony Unruh and Trish Boyer embarked on a project to design and build a home with the challenge and freedom of considering themselves the client, but expecting to sell. Instead of listing, they ended up making a move they had not expected. The project is a ground-up hillside construction, taking full advantage of views and adjacent growing trees. The house was designed with flexible living spaces, including a Gregory Ain inspired movable wall that can turn a flexible studio space into a separately entranced bedroom and study. The project makes selective use of modest materials that addresses budget and durability, without sacrificing style.
